OSL Software: Supported Hardware

The OSL software supports a wide range of hardware. The modular design of the software and the clean integration into the distinct layers of the OS drivers ensures that there are no additional requirements to the system. This also applies to the attached RAID systems.

The current version 4.8 of the OSL cluster solutions (SC and UVE) and the OSL RSIO can be deployed on Linux and/or Solaris systems. If external RAID storage systems or Shared Storage systems are used, they should be protected autonomously against failures of single disks. If internal storage is used, additional measures for data replication might be required (the XDM module can be used for this purpose). Please find an overview of the entire architecture for an OSL Storage Cluster or an OSL Unified Virtualisation Environment in the configuration samples for OSL SC and OSL UVE.

There is a lot of possible components and configuration options. Please do not hesitate to contact your preferred system partner or OSL with any questions regarding the hardware compatibilty.

Server Platforms

Linux: hardware choice depends on the capabilitis of the used Linux version!

Solaris: Any Solaris-certified Systems with Sparc-V9- and AMD64-compatible CPU and a 64-Bit-Solaris (Solaris 10 / 11) can be used. Using earlier Solaris versions (since Solaris 7) is also possible upon request.

Als operating system Linux (in principle, starting with kernel 4, currently recommended SLES 15.5, others upon request) or Solaris 10/11 (since Solaris 7 upon request) can be used. In principle, it can be assumed that OSL software runs on all servers that have been approved for operation with Solaris or respective Linux distribution.
