OSL Products: Supported Hardware

All OSL products can be used with a wide range of hardware. The modular design of the software and the clean integration into the two distinct layers of the OS drivers ensures that there are no additional requirements to the system. This also applies to the attached RAID systems.

The new product generation 4.8 allows operation of the OSL cluster products (SC and UVE) on Linux and/or Solaris. (In the prior version 4.3 Linux could only be used in combination with Solaris.)

In principle, the software is runnable on hardware systems based on open platforms of Solaris and Linux. If RAID storage systems are used, they should be protected autonomously against failures of single disks.

Since the amount of possible components is very large, we provide here only a selection of suppored hardware. If your hardware is missing in this list, this does not mean that our software cannot be used with it. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact your preferred system partner or OSL.

Platforms

Any Solaris-certified Systems with Sparc-V9- and AMD64-compatible CPU and a 64-Bit-Solaris (Solaris 10 / 11) can be used. Using earlier Solaris versions (since Solaris 7) is also possible upon request. The following platforms are supported among others:

Oracle:SPARC Enterprise Server (M series)
Oracle:SPARC Server (T series)
Oracle:Sun x86 Server
Sun:SunFire system family
FSC:Primepower system family
x64-Server:according to Solaris compatibility list

As operating system Solaris versions 7 to 11 can be used. OpenSolaris systems can be used too. Note that not all systems are approved by the manufacturers for Solaris 7 and 8. In principle, it can be assumed that OSL software runs on all servers that have been approved for operation under Solaris.
